I really appreciate this question. During these unprecedented times, nurses are needed and relied upon more than ever before. Nurses are the frontline warriors to this COVID-19 battle. We should never lose sight of our calling to care for our patients and the public at large.
At the same time, I fully understand the concerns about your fears and safety while providing care to patients. We all have a fear of exposure and/or possible exposures. We work with you and the healthcare facilities to ensure everyone’s safety: yours, your patients and the public at large.
If you have any concerns, we want you to know that our Clinical Team stands ready to assist you in any way we can. Please reach out to the COVID-19 Hotline at 800.998.5058. We have a team of clinicians trained and ready to assist you with any need you may have. We can be your voice to the facility and partner with you.
Your recruiter is also a partner to you. The entire team of Cross Country Healthcare is available to make your transitions smooth, easy and trouble free. Please voice any concerns to us. We want to help you and the team stands ready.
Canceling or walking away from an assignment will impact your ability to lock a new position. Each facility will look at your history and if you have left another assignment they will wonder if you will repeat this behavior again. This could limit your ability to secure future assignments
Finally, I want you to remember that a cancelation puts the hospital and your coworkers in a bind, and patients are left with no one to care for them. If you are having concerns at your location, first discuss them with the nurse manager of your unit. If your issue isn’t resolved, reach out to one of our Clinical Managers here at Cross Country Healthcare. Again, allow us to be your voice. We will partner with you to make this the best experience possible.
I look forward to more questions from our nurses. Our goal is to make you successful. Please submit your questions here. Remember: no question is out of order - send them all my way!
Always remember the words of Florence Nightingale: “I attribute my success to this - I never gave or took any excuse.”
