A new study just released states that Pneumonia acquired in hospitals is more widespread than previously thought.

The research performed was a culmination of patient data, “across 21 U.S. hospitals from Jan. 1, 2014, through Dec. 31, 2014, to identify NV-HAP cases."

This research stands in stark contrast to the preconceived notion that, “pneumonia comes primarily from the ICU or the elderly, the research team found that 70.8 percent of NV-HAP cases were acquired outside of the ICU. Of these cases, 43.1 percent were acquired in medical-surgical departments; 8.5 percent in telemetry”.
